Mental Health Programs for Children & Teens

Children and teenagers can struggle with mental health issues just the same as adults. In the U.S., more than 16 percent of kids under age 18 — or one out of six — experience a mental health disorder such as depression, anxiety, or substance use. Yet nearly half do not receive treatment.*

The good news is, that early intervention produces better long-term outcomes. Children’s mental health programs can prevent more severe, lasting problems as kids get older. That’s why it’s so important to get help as early as possible.

We offer help to children and teens with our Innovations® outpatient treatment programs (ages 5+). And we offer hope to kids and their families.

What We Treat

It can be tough to know if you have a mental health disorder, especially when you’re a teenager or younger. These years can be challenging for anyone.

But it’s not uncommon for symptoms of potentially serious illnesses to first show during childhood. These conditions are painful, dangerous, and frightening.

We treat children and teens with:

Our facilities provide a safe, secure environment where kids can grow, heal and learn skills for success in school, home and other social environments.

What Innovations Treatment Programs Look Like

At our treatment center, kids participate in programs designed specifically for them. They are supported by a dedicated team of mental health professionals who are trained in working with children and teens. Our programs include an accredited high school program and an individualized middle school curriculum to maintain academics during treatment. Innovations facilities maintain a close working relationship with all area schools and homeschool counselors with credit earned for work completed in treatment.

In our children’s mental health programs, families play an important role in helping kids develop and maintain a healthy lifestyle. Children and teens also have opportunities to participate in group therapy centered around topics of interest to them, like LGBTQIA+, gender-specific group therapy, and trauma-informed care.

Treatment Options

Our child and adolescent mental health services provide outpatient treatment in two programs. In the Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP), kids take part in full-day, evidence-based individual, group, and family therapy, and activity-based therapy like art, music and yoga. The Intensive Outpatient Program (IOP) is designed to follow PHP or may be an entry point for care when greater therapeutic benefit is required than can be achieved in traditional individual counseling. IOP also offers talk therapy and activity therapy, and both programs provide medication management under the care of an on-site, board-certified psychiatrist.

How to Start

Better mental health for your child begins with a consultation and confidential assessment. We’ll ask about your child’s current and past symptoms, health history, and any other concerns. We provide orientation for parents and answer your questions about mental health treatment.

Assessments can be scheduled by phone or chat, anytime day or night.

Following the assessment, our team will work with your child and family to determine the best approach to treatment. Each treatment plan is unique, based on your child’s needs and goals.
